Kyoto Seika University hosts illustration students from FIT
Late last month a group of students from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York visited the Kyoto Seika University campus to learn about our programs and participate in Duncan Brotherton’s Design English class. Students were first treated to a brief introduction of the class before breaking into groups where they discussed interests, shared examples of their work, and even made a series of sketches of their conversation partners.
The FIT students had been in Japan as part of a larger study abroad program centered on illustration. In addition to their campus visit, the group participated in a series of intensive lectures and workshops held at the Kyoto International Manga Museum, a joint establishment between KSU and the city of Kyoto. We were thrilled to welcome this year’s students to Kyoto and facilitate a meaningful exchange of artistic ideas and techniques.
