Kyoto
is the cultural heart of Japan, and its living heritage provides
a rich context for the Intensive Japanese Program at Kyoto
Seika University.
Universities and colleges are invited to send student
groups to study Japanese language
at KSU in Kyoto, on individually-designed courses incorporating
both intensive language classes and valuable cultural experience.
*This program is
offered to institutions on a group basis. If you would like to
send less than seven students, please consult with the program
coordinator.

SPECIAL
FEATURES OF OUR INTENSIVE JAPANESE
PROGRAM
This
Program is designed flexibly, according to the needs of the home
institution:
• You choose its duration and the
time of year when it is held. Most
intensive Japanese courses are scheduled for summer, or over a
full academic year. The flexibility of our program allows you
to integrate it seamlessly into your academic calendar. The duration
may be less than one month, or up to three months if required.
• Our Japanese language instructors work with you
to plan classes. Together, we create original Japanese
lessons that are responsive to your students’ specific needs.
•
Cultural experience in addition to language.
The cultural component of this program includes tea ceremony,
hands-on calligraphy experience, lectures and selected field trips.

field trips. Your students
will benefit greatly from exposure to such special events as local
festivals and other "must-see" features of Kyoto, Japan’s
former Imperial capital.

When an Intensive Japanese Program is held during semester, your

"The
trips to the temples and all of the coordination between Bard and
Seika were really fantastic. I was really impressed by how well everything
was put together for us, and I truly appreciate it. The students we
worked with were really accommodating as well (I can’t imagine
what they really felt about sitting in a classroom practicing basic
dialogue with Americans), and now I can say that I learned about Kendo
in its country of origin. It’s things like that that really
make a trip worth taking. All things considered, this program is a
good one."
