Kyoto Access


ARRIVING VIA KANSAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KIX):

There are three main ways to get from KIX to Kyoto by public transport:
  • MK Skygate shuttle van (reservation required 3 days in advance; scroll down for location of MK Counter at KIX)
    3,500 yen
    door to door (KIX-->Kyoto) with one large bag/case and carry-ons.
    1,000 yen up for each additional large bag/case
  • JR Haruka Express (every half hour, 75 minutes to Kyoto, 2,980 yen*) Schedule

    *If you buy a one-day JR West Rail Pass - Kansai Area you can reduce the cost of a Haruka ride to 2000 yen. Get it at the JR station at KIX.
  • Airport Limousine Bus (every 40 min, 2,500 yen), to Kyoto Station.

    (The Kyoto stop is in front of the Avanti Building, on the south side of Hachijo-guchi street, opposite the station. After arriving, go downstairs to the B1 basement level, take the underground passage north, under the street, to the subway station. To get to Seika, take the subway north to the last stop, Kokusai-kaikan (see access page for more details).

ARRIVING VIA ITAMI (OSAKA) DOMESTIC AIRPORT:

The simplest way to get from Itami to Kyoto is by Airport Limousine Bus. 1,280 yen. Schedule here, running approximately every 20 minutes. It takes 50–55 minutes to Kyoto Station.
(The stop is in front of the Avanti Building, on the south side of Hachijo-guchi street, opposite the station. Go downstairs, take the underground passage north, under the street, to the subway station. To get to Seika, take the subway north to the last stop, Kokusai-kaikan (see access page for more details).

MK Taxi has a shuttle van service too, as mentioned above: 2,300 yen to Kyoto.


LEAVING VIA KANSAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT from KSU:

Alternative ways of getting to KIX:

By
MK Skygate shuttle (online reservations available): 3,500 yen.
By subway and Haruka: 3,260 yen.
By subway and Limousine bus: 2,760 yen.

By Eiden, Keihan, and JR Kanku Express: 1,940 yen.

(The last, cheapest option is good if you don't have too much luggage to drag from one train to the next)

  • Take the Eiden line from Seika to Demachi-Yanagi (320 yen/17min)
  • Change to Keihan line, limited express to Kyobashi (460 yen/49 min),
  • Take JR Rapid service from Kyobashi to KIX (1,160 yen/75 min)
    Trains leave from Kyobashi approximately every 20 minutes.
    Be sure to take the train heading in the direction of Osaka Station.
