THINGS
TO DO BEFORE LEAVING JAPAN...
Departure:
When you have confirmed your date of departure, please be
sure to inform the International Office.
National Health Cancellation:
If you joined Japan's National Health Insurance (kokumin
kenko hoken)
you need to make sure that you cancel your cover,
otherwise you will be required to continue making payments. Go to the
Ward Office to do
this.Take your insurance card (hoken-sho) and the package
of material they mailed you with payment booklet. It's best
to not pay the final month's payment until you go to the Ward office,
as they may adjust what you owe, and charge less, or even give a refund.
Dorm Arrangements:
Please make sure that you have paid your rent up to your departure
date. (As detailed in the Dorm Agreement, rent is charged for each
calendar month. If you stay for just part of a month, you are required
to pay that full month's rent, so please plan accordingly).
If you are staying in Kino-ryo Kita or Minami, please make sure that
you inform the caretakers, Mr or Mrs Okajima, in advance of your departure
date.
Before leaving, please clean your room out (and take your cooking
utensils and any remaining foodstuffs from the kitchen). If you would
like to leave useful items for an incoming student, please put them
in a carton and leave them with Ken Rodgers at the International Office.
Please vacuum the floor and dispose of any trash.
On leaving, leave your room unlocked, and if you are staying at Kino-ryo
Kita or Minami be sure to return the room key personally to Mr or Mrs
Okajima.
(If leaving early in the morning, you can leave the key in an envelope
in the Minami dorm letterbox, informing Mr or Mrs Okajima in advance).
Keitai
If you borrowed a mobile phone from the International
Office, please return it before you leave.
Bike
If you borrowed a bike, please leave it in the dorm
bicycle shelter (in good condition), locked, and return the key to Okajima-san.
