Exchange semesters: Spring: March - July; Autumn: Sept.-Dec.


Process overview: To apply for exchange at Hong Ik, you must first be selected by KSU's International Exchange Committee. You need to provide a portfolio of art work, and pass an interview test. You must also take a TOEFL test and satisfy the committee members that your English is good enough for you to study successfully overseas. After your exchange is approved by KSU, please prepare the following materials:

1) Fill out Hong Ik's Application for Exchange Student
2) Prepare your portfolio (A4 clearbook, slides, or CD-ROM) with English captions
3) Write a letter of introduction and statement of purpose
4)Get a transcript in English from KSU's Kyomu-ka
5) Get a letter of recommendation from your teacher or head of department

KSU's International Office will mail these documents to Hong Ik.
After you have been accepted by Hong Ik, their International Office will send an Acceptance Letter, a Certificate of Admission, and information package.

Accommodation:
You can apply for accommodation on the Application for Exchange Student.

Dormitories (type A and type B) are located within Hongik campus, in #21 Building (see campus map).

Type A
-one room per 4 students (shared)
-Cost: About KW 700,000(73,000 yen) per semester
(One payment for full semester)
-Meals: Breakfast and Dinner are provided.
-Facilities: Bed, Desk, Closet only. (Bathroom has shower system at each floor)

Type B
-one room per single student
-Cost: About KW 400,000 (43,000 yen) per month
(Students should pay KW 1,600,000 [172,000 yen] at one time)
-Meals: Cook for oneself
-Facilities: Bed, Closet, Frige, Bathroom, Kitchen.

Estimated living expenses for one semester (not including accommodation):

Over KW 300,000 (32,000 yen+) per month = 138,000 yen+/semester (not including accommodation)

Bus/Subway Fare: KW 900 (97 yen)

Visa application process:

Entrance Ceremony

1st. semester:
March 2 is the first day of instruction for the term
