Process
overview:
To apply for exchange
at Australian National University (ANU) School of Art,
you must first be selected by KSU's International Exchange Committee.
You need to provide a portfolio
of art
work, and
pass
an interview test. You must also take a TOEFL
test and satisfy the committee members that your
English is good enough for you to study successfully in Australia.
After your exchange is approved by KSU, you need to take the
following steps:
1/ Fill out the ANU Student Mobility Program online
application form.
The
application period is September 1st to November 1st (for Spring
Semester, February - June), and March 1st to May 1st (for Fall
Semester, July - November).
To apply online, under "Search for Programs and
Awards," find Academic
Career and select "Non Award," then
click "Search." When the next window
appears, find "Non Award Exchange Program," and
click "Apply Online." In the next
window, click on "Register
and Start Application" to get started.

2/ Seika's
International Office will send your portfolio (A4
clearbook, slides, or CD-ROM).
3/ ANU will fax you a confirmation letter
and Offer Acceptance Declaration form,
at KSU's International Office. Sign this form, and fax it back
to ANU.
4/ Pay $190 for Overseas
Student Health Cover (6 months rate: for shorter
period, see here) to ANU International Education Office, by

Seika exchange students usually live at
Fenner
Hall,
an ANU dorm 2.5 km from ANU School of Art. It’s very comfortable,
with private rooms with telephone (and voice mail); Internet
access;
furniture; sheets & blankets supplied; shared kitchens and
bathrooms; free laundry facilities; and a shuttle bus service

Visa
application process:
After ANU's International
Office sends you your COE number, you can apply
online for your visa. You need your passport number
and period of validity details, COE number, and a credit card.
You need to pay a visa application fee (about $430 / 31,000
yen, that's expensive) online.
You also need to print out two medical forms (available online
when making your application), have a medical examination at
an
approved clinic (Nomiyama clinic, in Nakagyo-ku,
Kyoto, 075-812-0290, this costs over 14,000 yen) and have
the forms sent by the doctor to
the Australian Embassy in Tokyo.

After applying, you can check
your application status online.When your visa is
approved you will receive notification by e-mail, and your visa
will be stamped into your passport when you arrive in Australia.
