Five Subject Series
PERFORMING SPACE
Architecture shelters us from rain and wind, but so do umbrella or coat. Architecture can be regarded as "giant furniture" or "extended clothing" while fashion and street furniture make up components of cityscape. Subjects offered for performing space observe furniture and clothing from the point of view of spatial formation. Take PERFORMING SPACE SEMINAR taught by a fashion designer in combination with PERFORMING SPACE DESIGN STUDIO and exhibit your work at the annual "Tokyo Designer's Week".INTERIOR SPACE
Interior space is a division of architecture, but solely, its designs reflect the era more promptly than architecture. Sensibilities for the age and skills to manipulate form are crucial. Brush up your skills in INTERIOR EXPRESSION SEMINAR, test it out in INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO and learn the trade in COMMERCIAL PRODUCING SEMINAR.ARCHITECTURAL SPACE
These are subjects required to be a licensed architect in Japan and subjects that form the core of architectural thinking. These subjects can also become powerful tools to designers in another field. Dive into the depth of the discourse at the "School for Architects". Exercise your hands in ARCHITECTURE MATERIALS SEMINAR, the sensibilities in CRITIQUES ON CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE and the mind in SPATIAL CONCEPTS. These are the first steps to architects performing on the world stage.FICTIONAL SPACE
There are space in film and novels. The role of the next generation of architects include not only actual built environment, but virtual/fictional architecture. In FICTIONAL SPACE THEORY and FICTIONAL SPACE SEMINAR, strategies and concepts are taught and directed by a writer who also practices architecture. Employ the capacity of the computer to create imaginary architecture.ENVIRONMENTAL SPACE
21st century is the "environmental era". How can we preserve townscape and nature, and encourage vernacular development? Environmental courses allow us to think about these issues. In COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THEORY and COMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR, students are instructed processes to build on vernacular characters and indigenous climate concerns. "Town Architects", the leaders in the environmental era will take flight from here. In ECOLOGIC SPACE THEORY, a teacher who take an active part in an NPO organization talks about the practice.Three Curriculum
